Pleven is important administrative centre of Pleven Municipality and Pleven region. It is the biggest economic centre in Northwest Bulgaria. In the end of 2015 Pleven has a population of 99 628 people, ranking it the 7th biggest city in terms of population with 3rd biggest territory in Northern Bulgaria (following Varna and Ruse).

During the years Pleven has undergone a lot of transformations. The spirit and energy brought by the past generations has imbued the town with indescribable charm and individuality. There are many cultural monuments and military history museums, reminding us of the glorious history of the town.
